Seigler & Ebinger (2010), proposed new combinations of many species of Acacia subgenus Aculeiferum Vassal (1972: 14), in Senegalia . Amongst the new combinations proposed for this genus, Senegalia mellifera (Vahl) Seigler & Ebinger (2010: 94) , is invalid (according to the articles 11.4 and 41.1 of the Code [ McNeill et al. 2012]) because Acacia mellifera (Vahl) Bentham in Hook. (1842:507) was cited as basionym, while the oldest valid and published name is Mimosa mellifera Vahl (1791: 103) . According to Article 41.8 (see also Ex. 20) of the Code ( McNeill et al. 2012) this combination is invalid, thus, a new combination is proposed here:
