Distribution in Iran. Fars (Ostovan & Arefnia 2011), Mazandaran (Linnavuori & Hosseini 2000). General distribution. Euro-Mediterranean, the Maghreb, Near East (Andersen 1995, Fent et al. 2011). Comments. Only two nymphs are mentioned and tentatively reported for this species by Linnavuori & Hosseini (2000); a species not cited from Iran by Aukema & Rieger (1995).
Microvelia (Microvelia) reticulata (Burmeister, 1835)
Hydroessa reticulata Burmeister, 1835: 213 (as new species); Hydroessa schneideri Scholtz, 1847: 109 .
Distribution in Iran. Kordestan (Sakenin et al. 2010; Samin et al. 2011), Markazi (Vafaei 2005). General distribution. Euro-Siberian; scarce in Central Asia; known in Japan (Andersen 1995; Fent et al. 2011).
Comments. Carayon (1971) noticed that M. reticulata feeds upon ostracods and recalled former observations that it eats small flies too.
