Type locality. RSA, EC: Port Elizabeth (Michaelsen, 1899).
Distribution. WC: Knysna Forest, Garden of Eden in rotting wood near stream. The Wilderness. George area in damp soil. Tsitsikama National Park, forest. Jonkershook, bank of stream, black soil. EC: Storms River, forest. Remarks. Type material not found. SAMC A21710 View Materials ; BMNH 1938.7.1.1761–71. This is the only species of this genus endemic to South Africa. Recorded from a few distant sites in the Eastern and Western Cape provinces.
