Material examined. INDIA: KASHMIR: 2 ♀♀: Godasar. 3800 m a.s.l. 25.07.1981. G. Ledoux leg. (cSh) .
Description. Measurements (n=2): HW: 0.64–0.67; HL: 0.42–0.45; OL: 0.17; TL: 0.12; AL: 1.87; PL: 0.60– 0.62; PWmax: 0.78–0.80; PWmin: 0.53–0.55; ESL: 1.05–1.07; EW: 1.20; MTbL (averaged): 0.87; MTrL (averaged): 0.32 (MTrL 1–4: 0.15; MTrL 5: 0.17); AW: 1.33–1.35; BL: 3.85–4.20.
In general appearance similar to M. brevitarsis . Habitus as in Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1–5 . Body reddish-brown. Head with dense microreticulation, finer in middle; pronotum with dense isodiametric microreticulation, distinctly coarser than that on head.
Head with slightly elevated portion between bases of antennae and distinctly convex infraorbital portions; anteocellar depression shallow and moderately narrow; anteocellar foveae narrow, reaching level of anterior third of eyes. Distance between ocelli about as long as distance between ocellus and posterior margin of eye. Punctation fine and sparse, indistinct in middle. Antennomere 7 slightly longer than 6, 8–10 slightly shorter than 7.
Pronotum 1.2–1.3 times as broad as long, 1.1–1.2 times as broad as head, from widest anterior portion stronly narrowed posteriad toward obtuse posterior angles; laterobasal portions slightly depressed. Punctation fine and dense, missing along midline.
Elytra 1.1 times broader than long, with dense punctation, distinctly larger and deeper than that on pronotum.
Male unknown.
Female. Apical margins of abdominal tergite VIII and sternite VIII truncate.
Remarks. Based on the external morphology of the body ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1–5 ), this species is related to the Himalayan M. brevitarsis , but differs by the larger body, darker coloration, and details of the microsculpture and punctation of the forebody.
