Materialexamined (3 ff) – Femaleholotype + onefemaleparatype: CostaRica , Carta- go, nearTuis, 3000 m, 16–22 July 1993, leg. S. Keller (holotype) andW.J. Hanson (paratype). Onefemaleparatype: CostaRica , Limon, 7 milesfromNorthGuacimo, takenwithMalaise trap, 22 February – 3 March 1988, leg. F. D. Parker. – Holotypeisingoodcondition: (1) glued directtothepinbyitsrightmesopleuron, (2) ultimaterightfour (11–14) flagellomeresmissing. Twoparatypesarealsoingoodcondition: (1) gluedlikeholotype, (2) oneparatype: ultimaterightandlefttwo (13–14) flagellomeresmissing. Holotypeandtwoparatypesare depositedintheHNHM, Hym. Typ. No. 12235 (holotype) and 12236–12237. (paratypes).
Etymology – Thespeciesnameflavicoxareferstotheyellow (middle) coxa.
Description of the female holotype – Body 3.5 mm long. Left antenna one- fourth shorter thanbody (3 mmlong), with 16 antennomeres. Firstflagellomerefourtimesandpenultimateflagellomere 1.5 timesaslongasbroad, flagellomeres 11–12 subcubic (14:11, Fig. 198). – Headindorsalviewtransverse, twiceasbroadaslong, eyealmosttwice (19:11) longer thantemple, templerounded (Fig. 199). OOLone- thirdlongerthanPOL. Eyeinlateral view 1.9 timesashighaswide, genabeyondeyebroadeningventrallyandaswideaseye, fairlystronglysubstriatedwithanastomoses, subshiny (Fig. 200 seearrows). Clypeus 1.35 timesaswidebelowashighmedially, denselyanddistinctlypunctate, itsventralmargin justconvex (Fig. 201). Faceroughlyrugose, vertexandocciputtransverse, fronsrather longitudinallyandsomewhatroughlysubstriated (Fig. 199).
Mesosomainlateralview 1.35 timesaslongashigh, scabrous. Notaulixindistinct. Scutellumwithstrongstriae (Fig. 202). Hindfemurthick, 2.9 timesaslongasbroadmedi- ally, hindtibiaalsothickanddistallyasbroadasfemur (cf. Fig. 39 seearrows View Figs 32–45 ). Hindbasi- tarsusaslongastarsomeres 2–4 andone- thirdof 5thtarsomerecombined.
Forewingclearlyone- thirdshorterthanbody (2.7 mmlong). Pterostigma 2.3 timesas long as wide, isuing r from its middle and just shorter than 3–SR (9:10), SR1 straight, 1–R1 long, 0.85 timesaslongaspterostigma (Fig. 204 seearrows).

lateralview 3.4 timesaslonghighposteriorly, itshindenddeclivous (Fig. 206 seearrows). Carapaceapico-ventrallysomewhatincurved, i.e. ventralcavityofcarapacenearlyaslong ascarapaceitself (Fig. 207 seearrow). Ovipositorsheathshort, concealed.
Bodyblack. Scapeandpedicelyellow, flagellomeres 4–6 ochre. Palpibrownish. Tegulablack, parategulabrown. Forecoxalightbrownishyelowish, middlecoxayellow, hind coxablack. Foreleg: trochantersyellow, femurbrownish, tibialightbrownish. Middleand hindlegs: trochanterspaleyellow, femorablack, tibiablackish. Tarsipaleyellowwithdark suffusion. Wingshyaline, pterostigmabrown, basallyyellow, veinslightbrowntobrown.
Description of the two female paratypes – Similar to the holotype. Body 3 mm long (one paratype) and 4.2 mm (oneparatype). Forewing: r and 3–SR equalinlength (oneparatype) orpterostigma 2.2 timesaslongaswide, r halfaslongas 3–SR (5:10), 1–R1 0.75 timesas longaspterostigma (oneparatype, Fig. 209 seearrows). Hindfemur 2.6 times (onepara- type) and 2.7 times (oneparatype) aslongasbroadmedially. Coxae 1–2 yellow (onepara- type). Carapaceindorsalview 1.9 times (oneparatype) andtwice (oneparatype) aslongas broadposteriorly. Carapaceapicallywithoutsmallforamen.
Maleandhostunknown.
Distribution – Costa Rica.
Taxonomic position – In the key to the Nearctic species of Microchelonus ( McComb 1968) thenewspecies, M. flavicoxa , runsto M. paululus (McComb) and M. cushmani (McComb) , seekey-couplet 76. Thenewspeciesisnearest to M. hurdi (McComb) , thedistinctionbetweenthemispresented (quotations afterMcComb 1968: 73–74):
