Mapuchea sp. (last instar nymph)
( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1–5 )
General colour dark brown ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1–5 ). Head with compound eyes about twice as wide as long in mid line, anterior margin of head foliaceous, crown slightly produced medially, slightly sinuate. Vertex with two oblique impressions, in mid line slightly elevated, basally with prominent tubercles, one on each side between mid line and inner margin of eyes, coronal suture distinct, region of head extending onto crown, frontal sutures visible; compound eyes small, protuberant laterally, ocelli lacking.
Face as in adult. Antenna with 9 segments and short terminal annulate filament, pedicel with two subapical setae, third segment longest, about two times as long as subsequent segments, segments 4–9 with subapical setae. Rostrum exceeding hind coxae.
Pronotum narrow, collarlike, with median ridges distinct, postocular protuberances distinct, paranotal lobes long, directed downwards caudad.
Mesonotum short, widely triangular; mesothoracic wingpads distinct, tuberculate, reaching 5 th abdominal segment; metathoracic wingpads shorter than mesothoracic, with posterior margin almost straight, with pair of distinct prominences in anterolateral angles. Ecdysial line visible.
Fore legs short, femur covered with chaetae, tibia subquadrangular in cross section, about as long as femur, covered with long chaetae, row AV with three long, stiff setae in median portion, apex with ventral row of twelve setae, tarsus bisegmented, basitarsomere short, with a few setae, apical tarsomere covered with setae, claws distinct, arolium bilobate.
Mid legs slightly longer than fore legs, femur covered with chaetae, tibia subquadrangular in cross section, row AV with two longer, stiff setae, apical row of twelve setae, tarsomeres as in forelegs.
Hind legs longer than mid legs, hind femur covered with chaetae, single apical seta present, hind tibia longer than femur, quadrangular in cross section, rows PD and AD with four stout macrosetae, row AV with three stout macrosetae in apical half, row PV with single stout macroseta in apical part, apex with two rows of 7 setae. Tarsus bisegmented, basitarsomere slightly longer than apical tarsomere, covered with setae, with row of 6 stout setae on external plantar margin; apical tarsomere covered with setae, claws distinct, arolium bilobate.
Abdomen quite wide, with dorsal elevation covered with a few stiff setae on each segment, similar setae present also on posterior margin of each abdominal segment. Pygofer flattened laterally, with caudal fissure, exordia of genital block visible.
Younger nymphs are marked by less distinct protuberances of the body, less inflated frontoclypeus, and a flatter and more declivitous coronal disc.

REMARKS: Nymphs of Chilean Myerslopiidae were also reported by Evans (1961 [1962]) from Chepú, Isla de Chiloé, Linnavuori & DeLong (1977) repeated these data and postulated the specimens from Chile as a separate genus. Hamilton (1999) mentioned that nymphs from southernmost Chile resemble adults rather than nymphs of other species in the head shape. He suggested that these nymphs represent another species.
