Macrosteles parastriifrons Zhang & Lu, sp. nov.

Length (including tegmen). Male: 3.3–3.5 mm; female: 3.8–4.0 mm.

Yellowish green, sometimes with smoky tint on forewings. Head with 3 pair of brown markings, a short brown longitudinal band between ocelli and eyes.

Male abdomen. 2nd acrotergite with trunk widely V-shaped, stout; neck thin, shorter than half of trunk width. 2nd tergal apodeme with posterior lobes reaching 1/3 of tergite posteriorly. 1st sternal apodeme with posterior lobes developed, longer than basal width; with anterior lobes reduced. 2nd and 3rd with posterior lobes developed, very large, over 1.0 times as long as basal width.

Male genitalia. Pygofer broad, with an indistinct tubercle on caudo-ventral margin. Aedeagus in lateral view with terminal appendages abruptly curved caudad or ventrad; aedeagus with apical appendages comparatively short, lying near shaft. Aedeagal shaft smooth.

Holotype: male, CHINA, Zhejiang Prov., Hangzhouwan Wetland, 15.viii.2010, Coll. Su Lan. Paratype: 24 males, 20 females, same data as holotype.

Remarks. This species resembles M. striifrons , but can be differentiated from the latter by the aedeagal shaft smooth; 2nd acrotergite with trunk stout; 2nd tergal apodeme with posterior lobes not extending beyond posterior margin of tergite; 1st sternal apodeme with posterior lobes developed, longer than basal width.

Etymology. The specific epithet consists of “para-” and “ striifrons ” reflecting the similarity of this species to M. striifrons in the characters of the pygofer and aedeagus in lateral view.
