The type species of Coccobotrys Boud. & Pat. View in CoL , namely Cc. xylophilus (Fr.) Boud. & Pat. View in CoL , is historically considered as synonymized with Macropsalliota meleagris ( van Bambeke 1900) . However, according to Stalpers et al. (2021), this is a misapplication.
