Diagnosis. Body integument black with golden reflections; clypeus, funicle, tibiae, and tarsi reddish yellow; elytra dark-red, dorsally with whitish-yellow setae. Antenna longer than head; club black, as long as funicle. Tarsi without rings of white setae. Parameres glabrous.
Description. Holotype male: Body length 14 mm, humeral width 4.2 mm. Color: Body black with golden reflections; clypeus, funicle, tibiae, and tarsi reddish-yellow; coxae, trochanters, and femora black (femora reddish yellow in ventrobasal region); elytra reddish brown. Vestiture: dorsally with whitish-yellow, short setae that do not completely cover the surface; tarsi without rings of white setae. Head: Generally short and wide, with long setae on ocular canthus and keel in front of eyes. Clypeus trapezoidal, anterior border nearly straight. Funicle slightly longer than head, reddish yellow; antennal club black, nearly as long as funicle (2.6: 2.8 mm). Maxillary palpus reddish yellow; mentum black, wide, oval, longitudinally furrowed, with scattered setae on the surface. Thorax: Pronotum hexagonal, convex; length 3.55 mm, width 3.25 mm; with black setae on margins. Prosternal process long, reddish brown, curved, and flat in frontal view. Scutellum black, subtriangular with vestiture similar to pronotum. Elytra reddish brown with striae slightly covered by vestiture. Metasternum wide, black, slightly flattened; with rows of long, dense, short setae and rows of long, slender, yellow setae between mesocoxae and metacoxae. Abdomen: Color black, robust. Sternites 2–5 moderately concave at middle, sternites 2–4 with 4–6 spine-like, red, long, slender setae at each side of midline; length of sternite 5 twice length of sternite 4, with numerous long setae, apical third glabrous, light yellow; sternite 6 ovate, with long setae. Pygidium elongate, ovate, with numerous setae concentrically distributed on disc, and few long setae in the apex. Legs: Profemur with a subtriangular, curved, and sharp projection near the base. Mesotibia widened toward the apex; with two straight, lightly curved toward the apical spurs; with spine-like setae around apex. Tarsi enlarged; without rings of setae but with long, spine-like setae around apex; all tarsal claws long and cleft. Genitalia: Total length 2.95 mm. Parameres stout, wide, glabrous, completely fused dorsobasally, widely curved toward apex, forming round-oval shape in distal view; with length 1.00 mm and width 1.04; apex long, widely lanceolate, slightly acute ( Figs. 7–9 View FIGURES 7 – 17 ). Parameres with lifted internal margin forming a crest that terminates near the apex.
Female: Unknown
Variation: One specimen with elytra clear yellow; femora black or reddish yellow in ventrobasal region; body length 12–14 mm; humeral width 3.0– 4.2 mm.

Natural history. Specimens were collected during daylight hours flying or on the leaves of unidentified small trees in wet elfin forest in December (2) and January (4) at elevations of 2600–3500 m.
Remarks. Males of the new species appear distinct from other Macrodactylus because of the notably enlarged antennomeres, whose combined lengths exceeds the length of head.
