Luehea rufescens Saint-Hilaire (1828: 293) View in CoL .
Type:— BRAZIL. Minas Gerais: Paracatu, Saint-Hilaire s.n. (lectotype, designated here, P! [ P 02142940 ] ; isolectotype P! [ P 02142939 ]) .
The original material of L. rufescens is preserved in P where Saint-Hilaire worked ( Stafleu & Cowan 1976 –1988: 1064). It is represented by two duplicates, neither of which is mentioned in the protologue. Therefore, according to Art. 9.3 of the ICN, we designate herein specimen P 02142940 as the lectotype of L. rufescens by choosing the most complete specimen and one that best represents the protologue’s description. Based on Schumann (1886), Burret (1926) and the present study, the application of the name L. rufescens is confirmed as an accepted species.
