Holotype: ZMB 13832 ( Lichtenstein 1832, Nr. 84 sub “ Anas ”), skin, unsexed, collected by Meyen in “ Maerz ” [= 17 Feb 1831; see Meyen 1834b: 353] in “ Chile ” [= western foot of Volcán Maipo; see below]. Type locality. It follows from Meyen’s data and itinerary ( Meyen 1834a: 120, 1834b: 353) that the holotype was collected on the western foot of Volcán Maipo at an elevation of ca . 10,000 feet (3000–3500 m), Metropolitan Region , Chile [ca. 34.2°S, 69.9°W] GoogleMaps .
