Neobagous setosus Hustache, 1929: 229 View in CoL (non LeConte, 1876 nec Hustache, 1926) (type locality: Argentina View in CoL : Buenos Aires, Quilmes; type material: H: MNHN).

Hyperodes griseus Marshall, 1937: 325 View in CoL (misidentification, non Hustache, 1926); Kuschel, 1955: 289 (= H. bonariensis ).

Hyperodes bonariensis Kuschel, 1955: 289 View in CoL (replacement name for H. setosus Hustache, 1929 View in CoL ).

Immature stages. Development ( Barker, 1988), larva ( May, 1977, 1993, 1994; Marvaldi, 1998), and pupa ( May, 1994).

Host plants. Dactylis glomerata L., Festuca arundinacea Schreber , Hordeum vulgare L., Lolium multiflorum L., L. perenne L., Poa annua L., Triticum aestivum L., Zea mays L. ( Poaceae ), and Trifolium repens L. ( Fabaceae ) ( May, 1977; Barker, 1989; Kuschel, 1990; May, 1993; Lanteri et al., 2002).

Distribution. Argentina , Australia (introduced), Bolivia, Chile, New Zealand (introduced), and Uruguay ( Wibmer and O'Brien, 1986).
