Leucophenga brevitabulata Huang & Chen View in CoL , sp. nov.
( Figs. 3C View FIGURE 3 , 6M–O View FIGURE 6 , 10D, 10E View FIGURE 10 , 14I, 14J View FIGURE 14 , 26 View FIGURE 26 )
Diagnosis. This species is most similar to L. fuscipalpula sp. nov. in the colour patterns of abdominal tergites in both male ( Fig. 10D, I View FIGURE 10 ) and female ( Fig. 10E, J View FIGURE 10 ), but can be distinguished from the latter in having the paramere basally narrow ( Fig. 26C View FIGURE 26 ); aedeagus apically hook-shaped, laterally with a long, acute, distoventrally expanded process ( Fig. 26D View FIGURE 26 ); see below for that species.
Description. Ocellar triangle dark brown, with ca. 2 or 3 setae above ocellar setae. Frons brownish ( Fig. 6M View FIGURE 6 ). Pedicel brownish yellow; first flagellomere yellowish ( Fig. 6M View FIGURE 6 ). Clypeus entirely brownish. Palpus brownish ( Fig. 6M View FIGURE 6 ). Mesonotum brownish yellow, brownish in front of scutellum ( Fig. 6N View FIGURE 6 ). Postpronotal lobe yellow ( Fig. 6O View FIGURE 6 ). Acrostichal setulae in ca. 14–16 irregular rows ( Fig. 6N View FIGURE 6 ). Scutellum entirely dark brown to black ( Fig. 6N View FIGURE 6 ). Pleura with a brownish to brown, longitudinal stripe above ( Fig. 6O View FIGURE 6 ). Katepisternum and mesopleuron mostly yellow ( Fig. 6O View FIGURE 6 ). Wing ( Fig. 3C View FIGURE 3 ): distally clouded; costal vein between R 2+3 and R 4+5 distally with ca. 5 or 6 peg-like spinules on ventral surface; R 4+5 and M 1 slightly divergent distally; halter mostly yellowish, with a brownish to brown patch at knob ( Fig. 6N View FIGURE 6 ). Abdominal tergites dark brown to black, 2nd tergite yellow medially and laterally, 3rd and 4th tergites anteriorly yellow ( Fig. 10D, E View FIGURE 10 ), 3rd tergite entirely setigerous, sometimes setigerous laterally and only on posterior margin in males ( Fig. 10D View FIGURE 10 ). Male terminalia: Epandrium lacking pubescence, with ca. 16 setae near posterior and ventral margins per side ( Fig. 26A View FIGURE 26 ). Cercus lacking pubescence ( Fig. 26A View FIGURE 26 ). Surstylus pubescent ( Fig. 26A View FIGURE 26 ). Hypandrium with 2 sensilla ( Fig. 26B View FIGURE 26 ). Paramere with ca. 10 sensilla distally ( Fig. 26C View FIGURE 26 ).
