Type material. Holotype ( Figs 8 View FIGURES 8–15 , 45 View FIGURES 44–47 ): male, [ Indonesia] “ Sumatra | Dolok Merangir | 20.4.– 7.5.1981 | Dr. Diehl leg.” / “Slide | ZSM Arct. | 2021-337♁ | A. Volynkin ” (MWM/ ZSM).

Paratypes. INDONESIA, SUMATRA: 1 female, Aek Tarum, Gunung Malayu , 8.v.1983, Dr. Diehl leg., gen. prep. No.: ZSM Arct. 2021-338 (prepared by Volynkin) (MWM/ ZSM) ; 1 male, Simalungun, Huta Padang , 7.ii.[19]89, Plössl leg., gen. prep. No.: AV7320 (prepared by Volynkin) ( CBP) ; 1 female, the same data as previous but 5.ii.[19]89, gen. prep. No.: AV7321 (prepared by Volynkin) ( CBP) .

Diagnosis. The forewing length is 16.5 mm in males and 18.0– 19.5 mm in females. The male genital capsule of L. diehli is reminiscent of L. leucanioides but can be distinguished by the longer dorsal part of the valva, which is longer than the tegumen-vinculum complex whereas it is shorter than or equal to the tegumen-vinculum complex in L. leucanioides . Additionally, the distal saccular process of the new species is somewhat more elongate than in the similar congener. The phallus of L. diehli is shorter and narrower than in L. leucanioides (in proportion to the tegumen-vinculum complex length). The vesicae of the two species are similar but that of L. diehli is considerably shorter and narrower than in L. leucanioides . The female genitalia of L. diehli differ from L. leucanioides in the presence of the postvaginal plate, the shorter ductus bursae having a goblet-like dilated posterior section (it is evenly tubular in the congener), and the markedly broader appendix bursae.

Distribution. The species is currently known from northern Sumatra Island.

Etymology. The new species is dedicated to the memory of the late Dr. Eduard W. Diehl, a famous researcher of Sumatran insects and collector of the part of the type series. The name is a noun in the genitive case.
