Leschenaultia marjorieae sp. n.

( Figs 13 View FIGURES 9–14 , 19 View FIGURES 15–23 )

Recognition. Leschenaultia marjorieae sp. n. has syntergite 1+2 and tergite 3 with a few pairs of short median marginal setae well distinguishable from ground setulae; tergites 3 and 4 with a group of short and moderately thick discal setae as in L. cilipes , and thinner than in L. currani (see Toma & Guimarães 2002: figs 103, 112). Leschenaultia marjorieae sp. n. differs from L. cilipes by apical portion of cercus less narrow and less sinuous in profile, and from L. currani by the slightly more robust cercus and surstylus in profile and by the more apical curvature of the cercus (see Toma & Guimarães 2002: figs 44, 55).

Description. Male. Body length: 12.85–13.28 mm; wing length: 11.86–11.88 mm.

Coloration. Vertex and frontal vitta dark brown, ocellar triangle darker; fronto-orbital plate and apical third of parafacial dark brown; the rest of parafacial, face, facial ridge and gena lighter, except border of parafacial near ptilinal suture and genal groove reddish-brown; head with gray pruinosity; antenna dark brown, apex of scape yellowish-brown; palpus yellowish and proboscis brown; thorax dark brown in ground color, except portion of supra-alar area, postalar wall and greater ampulla, anepimeron, meron, katepimeron, katatergite and suture among katepisternum, anepisternum, anepimeron yellowish-brown; thorax pruinosity and abdomen color as in L. andarae sp. n. except stripes on scutum narrower; scutellum brown with light brown pruinosity; wing veins light yellowishbrown veins, browner basally; calypters brown with brown pruinosity; halter yellowish-brown; legs dark brown with light brown tibia.

Head. Vertex about 0.22x head width in dorsal view; inner vertical seta about twice length of reclinate orbital seta; ocellar seta weak and about one-half length of reclinate orbital seta; fronto-orbital plate with 10–12 frontal setae, one seta situated below level of lower margin of pedicel, upper frontal seta stout and slightly reclinate, and with a few smaller adjacent setae, giving an impression of an irregular row of frontal setae; first flagellomere about 2.4x length of pedicel; facial ridge with a row of supravibrissal setae on lower one-half of its length, setae 0.17– 0.32x length of vibrissa; subvibrissal ridge with three to four setae, 0.25–0.43x length of vibrissa.

Thorax. Posteriormost postsutural acrostichal seta about 1.4x length of preceding seta; posteriormost postsutural dorsocentral seta about 1.5x length of preceding seta; posteriormost postsutural intra-alar setae about 1.8x length of preceding seta; second and third postsutural supra-alar setae equal in length and about 1.8X length of first postsutural supra-alar seta; mid tibia with four to six stout anterodorsal setae, the longest about one-half of tibia length and about 1.8x length of anteroventral seta.

Abdomen. Syntergite 1+2 and tergite 3 with a few pairs of short median marginal setae well distinguishable from ground setulae; tergites 3 and 4 with a group of short but well visible discal setae; tergite 5 with many long discal setae. Terminalia ( Figs 13 View FIGURES 9–14 , 19 View FIGURES 15–23 ). Cercus in profile posteriorly almost entirely straight and slightly curved backward in apical fifth; surstylus in profile with rounded apex and about 0.8x length of cercus.

Female. Unknown.

Geographic distribution. Brazil (Mato Grosso do Sul).
