Lawrencipicobia calyptorhyncha View in CoL sp. nov.
( Figs. 3–5 View FIGURE 3 View FIGURE 4 View FIGURE 5 )
Description. FEMALE (holotype, range for 4 paratypes) ( Figs. 3 View FIGURE 3 A–B and 4A–F). Total body length 764 (721–771 in 4 paratypes). Gnathosoma . Infracapitulum apunctate. Stylophore apunctate, 221 (229–232) long. Each medial branch of peritremes with 4–5 chambers, each lateral branch with 8–10 chambers. Idiosoma . All dorsal setae, except for f1 and f2, thick and distinctly knobbed. Propodonotal shield entire and well sclerotized. Setae ve situated postero-lateral to vi. Length ratio of setae vi: ve: si 1:1.1–1.5:1.9–2.6. Bases of setae c1 and se situated at same transverse level. Hysteronotal shield reduced to two small sclerites surrounding bases of setae d1. Setae d2 and e2 subequal in length, both pairs slightly longer (1.1–1.2 times) than d1. Length ratio of setae ag1: ag2: ag3 4.2–5.1:1:3.7–5.0. Agenital and genital plates absent. Genital setae g1 short but setiform, pseudanal setae ps1 as microsetae. All coxal fields apunctate; setae situated on coxal fields III and IV thick and distinctly knobbed. Legs. Solenidia ωI longer than σI and φI. Lengths of setae: vi 73 (68–84), ve 98 (91–105), si 164 (157–175), se 239 (234–271), c1 266, (259–273), c2 278 (257–286), d1 223 (204–216), d2 248 (218–252), e2 232 (221–234), f1 38 (41–48), f2 68 (71–98), h1 29 (20–25), h2 500 (493–508), g1 21 (18–21), ps1 (6–9), ag1 (218–227), ag2 48 (43–55), ag3 218 (188–213), 3b 57 (50–54), 3c 80 (75–80), 4b 61 (63–71), 4c 109 (95–120).
MALE (1 paratype) ( Figs. 5 View FIGURE 5 A–D). Gnathosoma . Infracapitulum apunctate. Stylophore apunctate, 164 long. Each medial branch of peritremes with 5–6 chambers, each lateral branch with 9 chambers. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield entire, with minute punctuations in lateral parts. Length ratio of setae vi: ve: si 1:2.5:4.5. Hysteronotal shield not fused to pygidial shield, with deeply concave anterior and posterior margins, bearing bases of setae d1 and e2. Pygidial shield apunctate. Bases of setae f2 situated far anterior to level of setal bases h2. Genital series represent by two pairs of setae (g1–2). Pseudanal series represent by one pair of setae (ps1). Agenital plate absent. Both pairs of agenital setae (ag1–2) subequal in length. Lengths of setae: vi 13, ve 32, si 59, se 139, c1 139, c2 130, d1 18, d2 104, e2 13, f2 30, h2 293, g1 34, ag1 79, ag 2 80, 3b 21, 4b 32, 4c 57.
Type material. Female holotype, 3 females and 1 male paratypes (Reg. No. AMU-SYR. 582) from the Glossy Black-Cockatoo Calyptorhynchus lathami (Temminck) (Cacatuidae) [host no. ZSM A.1055], AUSTRALIA: coll. von Leuchtenberg, no other data.
Type material deposition. All type specimens—AMU, except 1 female paratype—ZSM.
Differential diagnosis. Lawrencipicobia calyptorhyncha sp. nov. differs from the only previously known representative of the genus, L. poicephali ( Skoracki and Dabert, 2002) , by the following features. In females of L. calyptorhyncha , setae si are 70–84 µm long; genital setae g1 are short setiform and about 20 µm long; in both sexes, only one pair of pseudanal setae ps1 is present. In females of L. poicephali , setae si are 140 µm long; genital setae g1 are represented by microsetae and about 10 µm long; in both sexes, two pairs of pseudanal setae ps1 are present.
Etymology. The name calyptorhyncha is taken from the generic name of the host, and is a noun in apposition.
