( Figs 6–9 View FIGURES 1–9. 1–5 )

Description. Male. Head, scape, pedicel, antennomeres III–V, wide transverse band on pronotum close to head, metacoxae, trochanters, pro- and mesofemora, tibiae, tarsi black; antennomere VI black except distal dark-brown area; antennomeres VII-XI dark brown (brown depending on light intensity); metafemora black, gradually dark brown toward apex after middle; remaining surface or prothorax, meso- and metathorax, pro- and mesocoxae orange; abdomen orange, slightly brownish on some areas; elytra orange, gradually brownish toward sides and apex.

Head. Frons finely, densely punctate; with yellowish-white pubescence obscuring integument (more brownish depending on light source angle), interspersed with short, erect setae of same color. Area between antennal tubercles and posterior edge of upper eye lobes finely, abundantly, partially confluently punctate between antennal tubercles; with short, slightly conspicuous brownish pubescence (more grayish-white depending on light source angle), interspersed with short, erect, moderately abundant brownish setae. Remaining surface of vertex finely, moderately sparsely punctate, except narrow area close to prothoracic margin somewhat finely striate-punctate; with short, erect, moderately sparse brownish setae. Area behind eyes finely, sparsely punctate, except area close to distal half of lower eye lobes with coarser, more abundant punctures; with long, erect, sparse yellowish-white setae on coarse punctate area, glabrous on remaining surface. Genae finely, densely punctate except smooth narrow distal area; with golden pubescence not obscuring integument, slightly denser centrally. Postclypeus finely, moderately sparsely punctate on wide central area, smooth laterally (punctures slightly finer than on frons); pubescence as on frons, but distinctly sparser and more bristly, except glabrous smooth area; with long, erect seta on each side of wide central area. Labrum coplanar with anteclypeus on basal half, inclined on distal half; finely, moderately abundantly punctate on sides, smooth centrally; with long, erect golden setae especially laterally; nearly glabrous on basal area, with dense yellowish-brown pubescence on inclined area. Antennal tubercles moderately elevated, with apex nearly acute; finely, moderately abundantly punctate basally, gradually sparser toward smooth apex; with pubescence as on frons frontally, nearly glabrous on remaining surface. Median groove distinct from clypeus to area between upper eye lobes. Gulamentum transversely striate on wide central area close to prothorax, smooth laterally on area close to prothorax, striate-punctate on large area between eyes (less so close to eyes); glabrous on area close to prothorax, with both short and long, erect yellowish-brown setae between eyes. Distance between upper eye lobes 0.86 times length of scape; in frontal view, distance between lower eye lobes 0.88 times length of scape. Antenna 2.6 times elytral length; scape moderately coarsely, abundantly punctate at basal 2/3 of outer side, finer, sparser punctate on remaining surface, but nearly smooth toward apex; with short, sparse brownish pubescence on basal third of outer side, absent on remaining surface, with long, erect, both yellowish and brownish sparse setae (longer dorsally); antennomeres III–IX with long, erect dark setae ventrally, gradually sparser toward IX (especially on VIII and IX); antennal formula (ratio) based on length of antennomere III: scape = 0.62; pedicel = 0.28; IV = 0.60; V = 1.00; VI = 1.07; VII = 0.93; VIII = 0.71; IX = 0.62; X = 0.50; XI = 0.62.

Thorax. Prothorax 1.15 times longer than wide. Pronotum finely, abundantly punctate except on smooth tubercles; with dense grayish-white pubescence basally (somewhat bristly), but not obscuring integument, short, dense brownish pubescence on dark area (distinctly grayish-white depending on light source angle), not obscuring integument; remaining surface with short, sparse, slightly conspicuous grayish-white pubescence; with long, erect yellowish setae, longer, more abundant on basal third. Sides of prothorax finely, abundantly punctate on wide central area (except smooth lateral tubercle), smooth basally and distally (gradually widened toward prosternum distally); with grayish white pubescence not obscuring integument on punctate area, glabrous on smooth area; with long, erect, sparse yellowish setae on punctate area. Prosternum finely, densely punctate-reticulate on basal 2/3, nearly smooth on distal third; with abundant yellowish-white pubescence on basal 2/3 not obscuring integument, with long, erect yellowish setae interspersed; glabrous on distal third. Ventral side of mesothorax with yellowishwhite pubescence not obscuring integument, distinctly sparser on part of mesanepisternum. Metanepisternum and metaventrite finely, sparsely punctate; with long, erect, sparse yellowish-white setae, and sparse yellowish-white pubescence on metaventrite close to mesocoxae. Scutellum with dense, silvery pubescence on wide central area, nearly glabrous laterally. Elytra. Coarsely, moderately abundantly punctate throughout; with wide, rounded carina from humerus to near apex; with short, erect, sparse yellowish-white setae throughout, with long, erect, sparse yellowish-white setae interspersed (longer, more abundant on basal third close to suture; shorter toward apex).

Legs. Femora with long, erect, sparse yellowish setae (slightly more abundant on metafemora). Protibiae with long, erect dark setae basally, gradually denser, golden toward ventral apex; meso- and metatibiae with long, erect dark setae, distinctly denser ventrally toward apex.

Abdomen. Ventrites nearly smooth; ventrites I-IV with long, erect, sparse yellowish setae, especially laterally, with short, sparse, decumbent yellowish setae, more conspicuous laterally from II; ventrite V with setae as on remaining ventrites on basal area, with dense golden pubescence on distal area.

Female. Unknown.

Dimensions in mm (holotype male). Total length, 11.25; elytral length, 4.15; humeral width, 2.15; pronotal length, 2.30; pronotal width, 2.00.

Type Material. Holotype male from COSTA RICA, Puntarenas: Bajo del Tigre ( Santa Elena), 28.VI.2017, J. Vlasak col. ( MZSP).

Etymology. The specific epithet “ costaricensis ” refers to the country where the type specimen was collected.

Remarks. Although the new species has been described based on a single male specimen, it cannot be confused with any known species of Rhinotragini , due to the set of features that also demanded a new genus to include it.
