Basionym:— Crassula rotundifolia Haworth (1824a: 188) View in CoL .
Type:— Plate of Kalanchoe rotundifolia dated “Octob.[-er] 1 st. 1823” and prepared by Thomas Duncanson of sterile material (a branch in leaf). Below the painting is written: “Raised from seeds + roots forwarded by Mr [James] Bowie in 1822”. Designated as “lectotype” by Tölken (1985: 62–63), corrected to neotype by Figueiredo & Smith (2017: 111) (neotype K) .
Epitype (designated here):— SOUTH AFRICA. Eastern Cape province.—3325 (Gqeberha): seven km north of Kariega (–CD), in humic soils in the undergrowth of dense, impenetrable vegetation in the Albany Thicket Biome. Flowered in cultivation on 12 March 2022. G.F. Smith & E. Figueiredo 91 (epitype PRU) .
