Description. Length (including wings): male 9.2 mm.

Head and pronotum yellowish brown ( Figs. 1 View FIGURE 1 E–F). Face with pair of small black markings mesad of ocelli; gena yellowish ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 F). Pronotum apical half with pair of large black spots on either of midline, basal half with few small brown spots. Mesoscutum apex with black markings. Scutellum yellowish, with black markings ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 E).

Anteclypeus much surpassing apex of gena. Rostrum broad, apex wider than base. Face with few short setae under eyes ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 F). Other characters as in generic description.

Male pygofer with transverse hyaline band laterally; dorsal margin with transverse apodeme; ventral margin concave near apex, apex half with finger-shaped process; apex of anal collar fork-shaped ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 A). Subgenital plate with dense fine setae on dorsal margin and few short setae on ventral margin. Connective slightly longer than wide, with medial longitudinal keel ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 C). Style with several short setae on dorsal margin, apex pointed ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 F). Aedeagal shaft compressed dorsally through basal 2/3, distal third concave and spoonlike, broadly rounded in ventral view, with paired lateral processes curved basolaterad in ventral view, anterodorsad in lateral view; preatrium long ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 D–E).

Etymology. The new species is named for Dr. C.A. Viraktamath in recognition of his contributions to the taxonomy of Cicadellidae .

Material examined. Holotype: ♂, CHINA, Hainan Prov., Jianfengling , 9-v- 2008, 900m, coll. Men Qiulei, at light ( NWAFU).

Remarks. J. viraktamathi sp. nov. can be easily distinguished from other species of Jogocerus by the pronotum with a pair of black spots, style with fine short setae on the dorsal margin and aedeagal shaft apical half concave dorsally.
