Ischnothyreus sigridae Richard View in CoL , sp. nov.
( Figs. 20–23 View FIGURE 20 View FIGURE 21 View FIGURE 22 View FIGURE 23 )
Type material. Holotype: male (PBI_OON00052396), JAVA: W . Java, Cibodas , 1500–1600m, December 1986, leg. Suh. Djojosudharmo, Coll. Deeleman, NNM Leiden.
Etymology. The specific name is a patronym in honor of Dr. Sigrid van Rensen (July 17, 1940 – June 19, 2015), a psychologist and good friend of the author.
Diagnosis. Males of I. sigridae sp. nov. resemble males of I. barratus Edward & Harvey, 2014 and I. monteithi Edward & Harvey, 2014 in palpal morphology but I. sigridae sp. nov. can be distinguished by the shape of the more slender tip of the bulb with strong wrinkles on the dorsal side (w, Figs. 22 View FIGURE 22 C–F). Furthermore the process on the fang base of I. sigridae (p, Figs. 23 View FIGURE 23 C, D) is diagnostic and lacking in I. barratus and I. monteithi . Description. Male: (PBI_OON00052396). Total length 1.45; carapace length: 0.73; carapace width: 0.60; abdomen length; 0.69.
CEPHALOTHORAX: Carapace pale orange, broadly oval in dorsal view, pars cephalica strongly elevated in lateral view, anteriorly narrowed to 0.49 times its maximum width or less, with angular posterolateral corners, surface of elevated portion of pars cephalica finely reticulate, sides finely reticulate; lateral margin straight, smooth. Clypeus margin unmodified, straight in front view, sloping forward in lateral view, high, ALE separated from edge of carapace by their radius or more. Eyes six, well developed, ALE largest, ALE oval, PME squared, PLE oval; posterior eye row straight from above, procurved from front; ALE touching, ALE-PLE touching, PME touching throughout most of their length, PLE-PME touching. Sternum as long as wide, yellow, uniform, surface smooth, microsculpture absent, lateral margin without infra-coxal grooves, distance between coxae approximately equal, extensions of pre-coxal triangles absent, lateral margins unmodified; setae dark, needle-like, evenly scattered, originating from surface. Mouthparts: Chelicerae, endites and labium yellow. Chelicerae straight, anterior face unmodified; directed medially, shape normal, tip unmodified; setae dark, needle-like, evenly scattered. Fang base with characteristic process (p, Figs. 23 View FIGURE 23 C, D). Labium elongated hexagon, not fused to sternum, anterior margin not indented at middle, same as sternum in sclerotization; with setae. Endites distally not excavated, anteromedian tip with one strong, tooth-like projection, much more heavily sclerotized than sternum.
ABDOMEN: ovoid, pointed posteriorly; dorsum soft portions white, without color pattern. Posterior spiracles not connected by groove. Scutum extending far dorsal of pedicel. Dorsal scutum weakly sclerotized, pale orange, without color pattern, covering more than 3/4 of abdomen, more than 1/2 to most of abdomen width, not fused to epigastric scutum, middle surface smooth, sides smooth. Epigastric scutum weakly sclerotized, surrounding pedicel, not protruding, small lateral sclerites absent. Postepigastric scutum weakly sclerotized, pale orange, short, almost rectangular, covering about 1/3 of the abdominal length, not fused to epigastric scutum, anterior margin unmodified. Dorsum setae present, dark, needle-like. Spinneret scutum with fringe of needle-like setae. Interscutal membrane with setae.
LEGS: yellow, without color pattern; patella plus tibia I near as long as carapace, tibia I unmodified. Leg spination: femora: I p0-1-1; II p0-0-1; tibiae: I, II p2-2-0; r2-2-0; metatarsi: I, II p1-1-0; r1-1-0. GENITALIA: Epigastric region with sperm pore large, oval, situated at level of anterior spiracles, unmodified. Tip of bulb slender, bent dorsally, with dorsal wrinkles (w, Figs. 22 View FIGURE 22 C–F). Bulb with one small ventral protuberance, retrolateral lobe pointed (rl, Fig. 22 View FIGURE 22 H).
Female: Unknown.
Distribution. Known only from Cibodas in western Java.
