Ischnopoderona aspericollis ( Scheerpeltz, 1974) View in CoL , comb. n.
( Fig. 41 View FIGURE 41 , Map 1)
Tachyusa (Ischnopoda) aspericollis Scheerpeltz, 1974: 227 View in CoL .
Type material. Holotype: Ψ: Republic of South Africa, Cape Province, Tzitzikama Forest, 12.I.1951, Brinck and Rudebeck ( MZLU).
Redescription. Body. Length 3.3 mm, convex, parallelsided, glossy; body colour brown; head and tergites V–VI black, legs brownishred.
Head circular in outline, moderately convex; eyes large, moderately protruding from lateral contours of head, length of each seen from above subequal to that of postocular region; surface of head without microsculpture; puncturation minute, pinpricklike and moderately dense. Antennae missing.
Pronotum quadrate, convex, lateral sides sinuately narrowed to obtuse hind angles; before base with small and shallow transverse impression; surface lacking microsculpture; puncturation in posterior half moderately fine and dense, in anterior half similar in coarseness but much sparser; pubescence at midline directed posteriorly in apical 1/4 and anteriorly in basal 3/4.
Elytra subquadrate, at suture slightly shorter than pronotal length at midline; surface without microsculpture; puncturation minute, pinpricklike and dense.
Abdomen widened posteriorly, bases of tergites III–V each with deep transverse impression, first two impressions coarsely and densely punctate, third impression smooth, impunctate; tergal puncturation fine and moderately sparse; surface without microsculpture.
Male unknown.
Female. Spermatheca as in Fig. 41 View FIGURE 41 .
Remarks. Ischnopoderona aspericollis resembles I. belingensis , from which it can be distinguished by its larger size, the surface of head lacking microsculpture (head with distinct microsculpture in I. belingensis ), the tergites III and IV brown (tergites III and IV red in I. belingensis ) and by the sparse tergal puncturation (dense in I. belingensis ).
Distribution. Republic of South Africa (Map 1).

Description. Body. Length 2.0– 2.3 mm, convex, parallelsided, glossy; body colour brown; pronotum reddishbrown, tergites III–IV and legs red, antennae brown with antennomeres 1 and 11 yellow.
Head circular in outline, moderately convex; eyes large, moderately protruding from lateral contours of head, length of each seen from above subequal to that of postocular region; surface of head with fine isodiametric mesh microsculpture; puncturation fine and very dense. Antennae very long, extending to 1/2 of elytra, slightly increasing in width apically, antennomeres 2 and 3 subequal in length, antennomeres 4–10 longer than wide, decreasing in length, antennomere 11 nearly coniform.
Pronotum quadrate, convex, lateral sides sinuately narrowed to obtuse hind angles; before base with small and shallow transverse impression; surface lacking microsculpture; puncturation in posterior 2/3 fine and very dense, in anterior 1/3 similar in coarseness but much sparser; pubescence at midline directed posteriorly in apical 1/4 and anteriorly in basal 3/4.
Elytra subquadrate, at suture slightly shorter than pronotal length at midline; surface without microsculpture; puncturation fine and very dense.
Abdomen widened posteriorly, bases of tergites III–V each with deep transverse impression, first two impressions coarsely and densely punctate, third impression smooth, impunctate; tergal puncturation very fine and moderately dense; surface without microsculpture.
Male. Aedeagus as in Figs. 42–43 View FIGURES 42 – 44 .
Female. Spermatheca as in Fig. 44 View FIGURES 42 – 44 .
Remarks. See remarks under I. aspericollis .
Etymology. The name belingensis refers to the type locality.
Distribution. Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon (Map 3).
