Hypotephrina View in CoL was placed in Janse’s treatment of the South African Ennominae View in CoL immediately after Tephrina View in CoL . Janse did not attempt to distinguish the Macariini as a distinct taxon. The uncus is absent and the valvae are undivided (see Janse, 1932: figs 90, 92) and there appears to be no reason to include the genus in the Macariini .
