Terrestrial herbs to shrubs. Distribution in PILA 1600– 1900 m, mixed forest in transition to cloud forest. Global distribution: Endemic to Panama. Records: B. Hammel 5811 (MO), S. Knapp 2122 (MO).

This species has been documented from and adjacent to the buffer zone of th epark but is still considered endemic to PILA.
