Ceratopalpomyia View in CoL :

- Gonostylus short and slender (only in extant species). Borkent et al. (2008b: character 6) previously interpreted the reduced gonostylus of Ceratopalpomyia (as Heteroceratopogon ) as an autapomorphy but with some suggested instances of homoplasy in other genera. Although a short gonostylus has evolved a few other times within the family, each of these differ significantly in details (see “Uncertain Character States”—“Male gonostylus relative size”).
