Centris (Hemisiella) dichrootricha ( Moure, 1945) View in CoL
( Figures 1‒4 View FIGURES 1 ‒ 4 , 27 View FIGURE 27 )
Hemisiella dichrootricha Moure, 1945: 408 View in CoL , 409.
Diagnosis. Both sexes with yellowish hairs with black tips on mesoscutum and mesoscutellum and a flat clypeal disc. Male: Metasoma dark brown with dark brown, short and mostly simple hairs; T6, T7 and distal half of T5 orange with orange pubescence. Due to the pubescence on dorsal surface of mesosoma, this species is similar to C. vittata , differing from it by the sculpture of the clypeal disc (areolate and flat in C. dichrootricha ; shiny with sparse, not very dense punctation and concave in C. vittata ). The male differs by the shape of the anterior tibial spur of the inner surface of the hind leg (apically curved in C. dichrootricha ; uniformly curved in C. vittata ) and by the coloration of the metasoma (dark brown with T6, T7 and distal half of T5 orange, with pubescence of the same color in C. dichrootricha ; orange brown with orange and yellowish pubescence in C. vittata ).
Morphology. Female ( Figs. 1, 2 View FIGURES 1 ‒ 4 ). Measurements: Approximate body length: 15.9; head width: 5.5; thorax width: 5.8; forewing length: 12.8; UID: 2.4; LID: 2.4; mandible length: 1.9; basal mandibular width: 0.9; labrum length: 0.8; labrum width: 1.4; F1 length: 1.0; F2 length: 0.2; F3 length: 0.3; scape length: 0.5; diameter of median ocellus: 0.3; distance between lateral ocellus and eye: 0.6. Coloration: Head and mesosoma dark brown to black. Legs brown. Flagellum dark brown except for the anterior surface that can be light brown, approximately from apex of F1 to apical half of F10. Lower paraocular area, mandible and base on fore and middle tibiae yellow. Labrum yellow with lateroinferior edge brown. Clypeus dark brown with two yellow elliptical spots starting in the center of the disc and ending near lateral margins. Tegula brown with posterior edge slightly yellow. Metasoma orange brown. Wing membrane light brown with dark brown veins. Sculpture: Clypeus areolate with relatively coarse, not very dense (puncture separated by more than a puncture width), and uniform punctation, slightly denser on upper and lateral sides. Labrum areolate with coarse and very dense punctation. T2 with fine and dense punctation, slightly sparser and coarser through distal segments. Pubescence: Head (except clypeus, labrum and gena), mesoscutum, mesoscutellum, area below wing base, tegula and dorsal surface of T1 with yellow hairs with dark brown to black tips. Clypeus and labrum with yellow hairs. Gena with light yellow to whitish pubescence. Femur of fore leg and ventral and most lateral surfaces of mesepisternum with yellowish light brown hairs. Legs mainly with yellow to light brown hairs. Posterior surface of middle tibiae with yellow hairs. T2–T4 with brown and short hairs. T5, T6 and fimbriae with light brown and relatively long pubescence. Structures: Mandible with three teeth (1st>3rd>2nd) with acute apex. Second tooth almost fused with rutellum. Trimal angle acute, welldeveloped. Acetabular carina reaching base of third tooth. Labrum semicircular. Clypeal disc irregular, slightly flat (lateral view). Inner orbits of compound eyes slightly converging below. Vertex slightly above the upper ocular tangent. Secondary anterior comb of fore elaiospathe formed by three very long apically curved hairs.
Male ( Figs. 3, 4 View FIGURES 1 ‒ 4 ). Measurements: Approximate body length: 14.2; head width: 4.7; thorax width: 5.7; forewing length: 12.5; UID: 1.7; LID: 1.9; mandible length: 1.4; basal mandibular width: 0.6; labrum length: 0.7; labrum width: 1.2; F1 length: 0.9; F2 length: 0.2; F3 length: 0.4; scape length: 0.5; diameter of the median ocellus: 0.3; distance between the lateral ocellus and the eye: 0.3. Coloration: Integument dark brown to black on head and mesosoma except lower paraocular area, labrum, mandible and base of fore and middle tibiae yellow. Clypeus yellow with upper and lower edges dark brown. Antenna dark brown with anterior surface of T2 to T11 and apex of T1 orange brown. Tegula brown. Legs brown with hind basitarsus light brown. Wings membrane yellowish brown with brown veins. Sculpture: Clypeus areolate with dense punctation laterally, slightly dispersed on center of disc. Labrum with fine and dense punctation. T1 with fine and dense punctures, slightly dispersed on disc. T2 and T3 with fine, dense and uniform punctation. T4 with similar punctation, scattered. T5 and T6 with coarse punctation, sparser than on preceding terga. Metasoma dark brown with T6, T7 and distal half of T5 orange. Pubescence: Occiput and femora with whitish pilosity. Interantennal area and posterior surface of scape and of median ocellus with yellowish white hairs. Mesepisternum and fore and mid legs with light yellow pubescence. Yellow pubescence on mesoscutum and mesoscutellum with black tips. Hind leg with brown hairs, tibia and basitarsus with orange hairs on posterior lower margin. T1 with light yellow hairs, T2, T3 and T4 with dark brown, short and mostly simple hairs. T5, T6 and T7 with orange, long and plumose pubescence. Structures: Mandible with three teeth (1st>3rd>2nd) with acute apex. Second tooth almost completely fused with rutellum. Trimal angle acute, poorly developed. Acetabular carina reaching base of third tooth. Clypeal disc flat (lateral view). Labrum sub-rectangular with lower margin convex. Vertex below upper ocular tangent. Inner orbits of compound eyes diverging above. Posterior surface of hind coxa with tooth-like projection. Hind tibiae and femur enlarged. Posterior edge of hind basitarsus with a spine-like projection near base.
