Harpalus (Ophonus) quadricollis Dejean, 1831: 838 .

The holotype of the species is a female already recognized as such by Sciaky (1987). He probably pinned a red label stating Holotype in this specimen. Therefore, it presently bears the following labels: white labels “ quadricollis Dahl , in Sicilia alp. D.” “Dahl”, “ HOLOTYPE ”. I have added a white label “ Holotype of Harpalus (Ophonus) quadricollis Dejean, 1831 , J. Serrano vidit”.

Dejean (1829) wrote: Je ne possède qu’un individu femelle de cet insecte, qui m’a été envoyé par M. Dahl, sous le nom spécifique que je lui ai conservé, comme venant des montagnes de la Sicile .

Sciaky (1987) discussed the taxonomic problems concerning this species. Antoine (1959) and Sciaky (1987) made up keys to identify the species. It is a Siculo-Maghrebian geographic element.
