Type materials. Holotype. China. Male, Xinjiang, Jijihu , vi-6-2005, Han, Huilin coll. ( SNNU) . Paratype, male, data similar with holotype.
Measurement. Male (n=2): BL 11.92±0.5, HL1.72±0.24, HW 2.81±0.12, PL1.55±0.04, PW 3.23±0.14, FWL 8.11±0.17, FWW 4.15±0.3, MTL 2.42±0.19, HFL 5.94±0.19
Description. Male. Body sized medium in Gryllinae species. Head and pronotum short, almost as long as apical field of elytra. Occiput short and slightly convex. Vertex inclined. Clypeus very convex proximally and shaped as hemisphere in lateral view; and truncate apically, which oblique inward. Labrum shaped normally and with middle notch apically. Eyes large, its hind and lower margin straight. Rostrum very wide and nearly four times wider than antennal scape. Antennal scape transverse, rectangle-like. Apical three sections of maxillary palpus in equal length; end section of labial palpus slightly longer than the total length of proximal two. Pronotum transverse, two times wider than length; its anterior margin inward concave and almost shaped as obtuse angle, posterior margin straight and lateral margin curved to lateral lobes; lateral lobes of pronotum somewhat flat and conspicuously inward curved posteriorly. Elytral long and longer than three times of the total length of head and pronotum. Lateral margins of elytral almost straight. CuA vein long and the transvers portion broadly arched. Harp area large and harp veins two. Diagonal vein somewhat arc-like. Mirror large and slightly oval shaped. Dividing vein arched and dividing anterior portion larger than the posterior. Apical field rather short, almost as long as the half of mirror and possessing with few of cell. Hindwings present and long, with uncovered portion as long as forewings. Fore tibia only armed with outer tympana, large and shaped as longitudinal oval; the part of inner tympana should present depressed and somewhat crescent. Tarsus very short and as half-length of tibia. Hind tibia short, as half-length of hind femur; subapical spurs five or six, those presenting apically or proximally varied in size. Hind proximal tarsus armed with two rows of spines, numbered five or six respectively and right-left asymmetry. Cercus short and nearly as long as hind tibia.
Coloration. Body colored yellowish brown and ornamented with brown spots or stripes. Vertex and occiput possessing brown and transvers stripes, and several irregular transvers stripes presenting between them. Frons armed with a brown and oval-shaped patch in the middle, which surrounded by ocelli and eyes. Eyes dark brown. Clypeus almost yellowish brown and just armed with few of brown patch under low margin of antennal scape. Pronotum yellowish brown and only colored brown in blade-shaped patterns and portions around them. Fore and middle legs yellowish brown; most parts of hind legs yellowish brown, but dorsum of hind femur ornamented with brown spots medially and apically, and spurs on tibia, spines on tarsus as well as claw colored brown apically. Abdominal tergites and thoracic pleura dark brown, and ventral portions yellowish brown.
Genitalia. Genitalia very similar to Modicogryllus species. Epiphallus widened, with thin lateral lobes and without middle lobe. Epiphallic lateral lobe proximally broad, narrowed at middle and tapering and with acute end. The middle of epiphallus very wide and somewhat longitudinal long, with inner (proximal) part shaped as obtuse angle. Ectoparamere proximally stick-like, middle portions widened and armed with lateral lobe, and apical portions depressed laterally, inwards curved and with acute tip.
Female unknown.
Etymology. The name refers to the locality where discovered it.
Remarks. This species possesses genitalia which is very similar to the species of Modicogryllus , but in Modicogryllus the epiphallus and ectoparamere are shaped simply, and those of the new are varied in thickness and appendant. Of the Modicogryllus , the new one bears endoparamere resembling Modicogryllus pseudocyprius Gorochov, 1996 . Then, there are three species of the genus Gryllodinus Bolívar, 1927 worldwide and male’s genitalia of all of these species are rather distinct, and that of the new species is similar to Gryllodinus odicus ( Uvarov, 1911) ( Gorochov, 1979: figs 7–9). Comparing with G. odicus , epiphallic lateral lobes of the new rather outwardly expanded proximally and the constricting portion in the middle papillary, and these of G. odicus are simple. In addition, the new species owns similar coloration with Turanogryllus lateralis ( Fieber, 1853) , it might be the result of the similarity of habitat environment.
