Informally divided into to two groups by Carstens et al. (2002); "choeronycterines" ( Anoura , Choeronycteris , Choeroniscus , Hylonycteris , Lichonycteris , Musonycteris , and Scleronycteris ), and "glossophagines" ( Glossophaga , Leptonycteris , and Monophyllus ).
