( Figs. 4 View FIGURES 1–4 , 10 View FIGURES 8–10 )

Cholotis thoracista Meyrick, 1915: 327 View in CoL Type localities: India (Assam, Coorg, and Kanara) and Sri Lanka. Ascalenia thoracista View in CoL ; Meyrick, 1932: 215.

Types. Two of 24 syntypes examined from the Natural History Museum, London: ♀, “SYN- | TYPE” [circular label with blue edges], “Khasi Hills, | Assam |.4.1907”, “ Ascalenia View in CoL | thoracista View in CoL | Meyrick 7/20 | E. Meyrick det. | in Meyrick coll.”, “E. Meyrick | Collection | B.M. 1938-290”; ♀, “SYN- | TYPE” [circular label with blue edges], “Madulsima | Ceylon | Mer. 5.08”, “ Ascalenia View in CoL | thoracista View in CoL | Meyrick 2/20 | E. Meyrick det. | in Meyrick coll.”, “E. Meyrick | Collection | B.M. 1938-290”.

Material examined. 1♀, India, Assam, Khasi Hills , October 1906, USNM.

Distribution. India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Australia ( Robinson et al. 1994).

Remarks. Robinson et al. (1994) suggested that Ascalenia thoracista (Meyrick) is widespread throughout the Indo-Australian Region. Koster (2010) mentioned that A. thoracista possesses the thorn-like extension on the free part of the tergite VIII, similar to Gisilia gielisi . We examined A. thoracista and found that it shares the abovementioned features of Gisilia in the female genitalia. Therefore, the species thoracista is transferred to Gisilia in this study. An unnamed species of Ascalenia similar to G. thoracista has been reported from Japan ( Hirowatari et al. 2012; Kuroko 2013). It is very likely that this species also belong to Gisilia .
