Type Locality: Libya, Cyrenaica, Dernah.

Vernacular Names: Grobben's Gerbil.

Distribution: Known only from the type locality.

Conservation: IUCN – Critically Endangered.

Discussion: Subgenus Hendecapleura . Petter (1975 b) and Corbet (1978 c) included grobbeni in G. nanus , but Lay (1983) agreed with Ranck (1968) in retaining grobbeni as a species until its status is clarified.
