Distribution in Brazil. Bahia ( Fiaboe et al., 2007), Goiás ( Demite et al., 2016), Minas Gerais ( Rezende & Lofego, 2011; Demite et al., 2016) and São Paulo ( Denmark & Muma, 1973; Feres et al., 2010).

Distribution elsewhere. Peru, Trinidad, USA and Venezuela.

Remarks. Examination of one paratype of E. errabundus (same data as holotype, Manzanilla Bay, Trinidad, on Turnefortia hirsutissima) and two paratypes of E. plaudus (S„o Paulo, S„o Paulo state, on Spathodea sp. and on Casuarina suberosa ) led to the conclusion that these species are synonyms. McMurtry & Moraes (1989) reported a variation in specimens identified as E. errabundus from Peru in relation to the position of Jv 1 (on the shield margin or far from it). This variation seems also to occur in the Brazilian specimens, as in the original description of E. plaudus this seta is shown far from the margin, while in our examination of the paratypes of this species they are marginal.
