Geometra subnotata Hübner, 1813 , Sammlung Europäischer Schmetterlinge 5 Geometrae (2), pl. 89, fig. 458. Syntype (s) lost. [Europe] (synonymised as E. subnotataria [sic] in Herrich-Schäffer, [1848]).
Eupithecia subnotata f. collustrata Dietze, 1910, Biologie der Eupithecien 1, pl. 85, fig. 947; ibidem (1913), 2: 107. Syntypes 2♂, 3♀ (coll. K. Dietze in MNHU; examined), [ Kyrgyzstan]: Karagai-tau; Naryn; [ China]: Altyn-dagh.
This is a readily recognized species, easily distinguished from other Eupithecia . It is usually common in Europe (from Ireland and Spain to southern Urals), Asia Minor, Caucasus, Transcaucasus, western Siberia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and North western China (Xinjiang). Not hitherto recorded from Mongolia.
Material examined. 1♀, W. Mongolia, Khovd aimag, Dzhungarian Gobi desert, 10 km E of Bulgan somon, 1050 m, 7.vii.2007, V.V. Anikin leg. ( ZISP).
