ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1861e: 107 (key), 108 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in agri parmensis collibus [ Parmese hills ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, syntype (missing right mid-leg) ( MZUF: Box 16): Erynnia Desv. / vibrissata Rnd. / 847; 1 ♀, syntype (missing right fore-leg) ( MSNC: Box DIPTERA Ex collezione Rondani - I): Erynnia Desv. vibrissata R. 132 ♀ Apenn. [= Apennines] / Coll. Rondani, scatola n° 2, posiz. C-15 / Museo di Storia Naturale Università di Pisa, Calci ( PI) ex collezione Rondani.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Ligeria angusticornis (Loew, 1847) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 166) .

REMARKS: Rondani (1861e: 108) described Erynnia vibrissata without specifying either the number or the sex of the specimens and not giving a range of lengths. We found two syntypes in this study. The MZUF contains a specimen numbered “847” from “ Sicilia ” [= Sicily], which is not the type locality.
