Holotype. Male, NSW, Thredbo NP, alpine meadow, - 36.504722°S, 148.305556°E, 2037m asl, pitfall, January 2012, PG leg., [ SAMA 22640 About SAMA ]. GoogleMaps

Description. Size. Length 1.512 mm.

Colour. As indicated on label in having an orange head, as well as Abd V, VI ( Fig. 1D View FIGURE 1 ).

Head. Eight eyes, G and H smaller than E–F. Antennae unknown. Labral papillae spinulate with three spines on each papilla ( Fig. 9A View FIGURE 9 ). Labral chaetae with 4 prelabral and 5,5,4 chaetae, all smooth. Labial chaetae with MREL 1 L 2 ciliated, R smaller than M. External process of papilla E not reaching the papilla tip.

Thorax and abdomen. Length ratio of Abd IV/III=5.5. Tibiotarsus without differentiated chaetae, with exception of the presence of the smooth terminal chaetae on legs 3, characteristic for the genus. Trochanteral organ with 16-20 chaetae. Unguis with 4 teeth: paired at 50% of the basis, first unpaired at 75 % from the basis, dorsal and lateral teeth a little below the internal paired. Unguiculus acuminated, narrow, external lamella of leg 3 serrate. Tenent hair clavate, longer than unguis. Manubrial plate with 4 chaetae and 2 pseudopores. Mucro bidentate both teeth of similar size with mucronal basal spine. Mucro 15 micrometers and distal smooth portion of dens 2.5 times the mucro length.

Macrochaetotaxy. Simplified Mc formula: 4,1,0,1(2),1a/2,3/0,2/0,0,1/0,2,2,0,2. Head chaetotaxy ( Fig. 9B View FIGURE 9 ) An 2, An 3a2, An 3a1, An 3 and A 5. M 2 and M 4 present as Mc. In sutural row present S 0, S 2, S 3, S 4i (present or absent), S 5i, S 5 and Ps 5 present. Thorax chaetotaxy: Th II chaetotaxy ( Fig. 9C View FIGURE 9 ) T1 area with Mac m 1 and m 2, T2 area with Mc a 5, m 4, m 4i. Abdominal chaetotaxy ( Fig. 9D View FIGURE 9 ): Abd II with m 3ep and m 3e, on Abd III m 3 Mc present; Abd IV ( Fig. 9E View FIGURE 9 ) with Mc A 2, A 4, A 6, B 4, B 6, and E 1. Sensillary formula usual of Entomobrya . The bothriotricha on Abd IV in position T 2 and T 4 (0110).

Remarks. One specimen only was available. The colour of the fresh specimen was described on the slide. Taking into account only the chaetotaxy of the abdominal segments II and III 0,2 / 0,0,1, the only species with the same chaetotaxy of world Entomobrya are: E. assuta , E. boreensis sp. nov., E. clarki , E durrasensis sp. nov. and E. stirlingensis sp. nov. In the attached Table 4 View TABLE 4 , the characters listed for E. bioblitzi easily separate it from the five species above. Table 4 View TABLE 4

Etymology. The species is named after the Bioblitz field expedition organised by NSW National Parks Officer, Ken Green in 2012.

TABLE 4. Table comparative among E. bioblitzi sp. nov. similar species. LP=Labral Papilla: Without =0 smooth =1 Multispinte =2 seta like =3 Pointed not seta like =4. External unguiculus=EU: 0=smooth, 1=serrate. Diff = differences. bio/sti meaning the comparison between the species E. bioblitzi versus E. stirlingensis. The same abbreviations (first three letters) for the remaining species. * means differences.
