Emphytopsis nigricornis Wei & Xu , sp. nov. (Fig. 4)

Description: Holotype: Ƥ.

Body length 11 mm. Pale yellow brown; large ocellar spot, small spot on posterior part of postocellar area (Fig. 4b), apex of mandible, lateral stripe on pronotum, outer side of propleuron largely, broad elliptical spot on prescutum, one large elongated and connected one small round spot on each lobe of scutum, centre of mesopostnotum, small spot near cenchrus, a pair of small spots on posterior part of metapostnotum, ventral side of mesepisternum, a narrow stripe on posterior margin of mesepimeron (Fig. 4d), a pair of broad maculae on posterior halves of abdominal tergites 1, 3–8, two small spots near posterior margin of tergite 2 and ovipositor sheath black; ventral parts of abdominal tergites entirely yellow brown; distance between two black maculae on tergites 1–5 distinctly more than 2× diameter of middle ocellus. Legs pale yellow, apical 0.33 of hind femur black, apical 0.25 of hind tibia dark brown. Antenna almost black (Fig. 4c), outer side of scape pale. Body hairs silver. Wings hyaline, vein C, basal 0.4 of stigma pale brown, apical 0.6 of stigma and other veins blackish brown (Fig. 4a).

Clypeus sparsely and minutely punctured, frons with distinct, minute punctures, postocellar area minutely and sparsely punctured, head otherwise polished, shiny; mesonotum scarcely and minutely punctured, mesoscutellum and posttergite with dense large punctures; metanotum strongly shiny; mesepisternum densely punctured, interspaces between punctures linear; metapleuron finely microsculptured; abdominal tergites without distinct microsculptures and punctures, shiny.

Anterior margin of labrum roundly protruding, anterior margin of clypeus deeply incised to 0.65× clypeus length; malar space 0.7× diameter of middle ocellus; POL: OOL: OCL = 12: 22: 27; postocellar area weakly elevated, as long as wide, lateral furrows feebly curved, subparallel; head behind eyes in dorsal view clearly shorter than eye (2: 3), lateral sides curved, subparallel (Fig. 4b). Antenna slender, not distinctly tapering toward apex, relative length of antennomeres about 7: 4: 16: 13: 11: 8: 7: 6: 6. Mesoscutellum roundly elevated, posterior slope shorter than anterior slope; mesepisternum indistinctly elevated; distance between cenchri 1.1× longest axis of a cenchrus. Claw with inner tooth slightly shorter than outer tooth. Vein R+M in forewing as long as free sector of Sc, lower outer corner of cell 2Rs slightly extended, vein 2r joining cell 2Rs at about middle. Petiole of anal cell in hind wing about 0.2× length of vein cu-a. Hind basitarsus 0.95× length of tarsomeres 2–5 together. Claw with inner tooth hardly shorter than outer tooth. Ovipositor sheath as long as metabasitarsus, apical sheath as long as basal plate, subtriangular at apex in lateral view (Fig. 4e); in dorsal view sheath about 2.2× as wide as cercus, setae on lateral sides of sheath short, hardly curved. Lancet with 21 serrulae, membrane between 8th and 9th serrulae slightly narrower than width of a serrula, 5th and 6th serrulae as in Fig. 4f, each with 6 large subbasal teeth at about same level; 11th and 12th serrulae as in Fig. 4g.

Male: Unknown.

FIGURE 4. Emphytopsis nigricornis Wei & Xu , sp. nov. a. Adult female; b. Head, dorsal view; c. Antenna; d. Mesopleuron; e. Apex of abdomen, lateral view; f. 5th–6th serrulae; g. 11th–12th serrulae.

Etymology: The specific epithet refers to the black antenna of the species and is to be treated as an adjective.

Specimen examined: Holotype, Ƥ, Dayueshan (115º59.007´E, 29º33.797´N), Mt. Lushan, Jiangxi Province, alt. 1240 m, 19 May, 2007, Yuan Zhang (CSCS).

Distribution: China (Jiangxi).

Remarks: This new species is close to E. quadrata Wei & Xu , sp. nov. See the above key for the differences between the two species.
