Eiphosoma dearmasi sp. nov.
Diagnosis. Characters that differentiate E. dearmasi sp. nov. from all species other than those of its speciesgroup are presented in the diagnosis for E. luteum . In Cuba E. dearmasi sp. nov. is morphologically similar to E. nigrovittatum but differs from that species in having a much more yellowish metatibia, the mesopleuron completely yellow (with diagonal black stripe in nigrovittattum), and a shorter ovipositor.
Description: Forewing length 7.00 mm. Mandible strongly tapered towards distal end, with upper tooth slightly longer and stouter than lower one; clypeus, in profile, convex, malar space 0.55X as long as basal mandibular width; posterior ocellus separated from eye by 0.95X its own maximum diameter. Pronotum with dorsal end of epomia raised forming rounded flange laterally; mesoscutum abruptely rounded, coarsely punctured, with lateral lobes more sparsely punctate; scutellum weakly convex, smooth centrally; mesopleuron with ventral part punctate; sternaulus sharply impressed anteriorly; dorsal end of epicnemial carina extending to anterior end of pleuron about half way up pronotum; metapleuron convex and smooth; submetapleural carina moderately long and elevated. Propodeum very sparsely punctate and impressed centrally; anterior transverse carina complete, with median angulation strong; posterior transverse carina incomplete. Profemur with long but sparse pubescence ventrally, longest seta about half diameter of femur; metathoracic leg with trochantellus, in dorsal view, 0.63X as long as trochanter; metafemur 5.90X as long as deep, metatibia spinose, metatarsal claw lacking in holotype. Forewing 3rs-m absent; 2rm-s about 0.50X length of M between 2rm-s and 2m-cu; distal abscissa of M pigmented its entire length; cu-a opposite to base of Rs&M. Hind wing with 4 hamuli. Metasoma tergite I slightly swollen posteriorly, with spiracle positioned 0.70 of way back; tergite II dorsally with fine and sparse setae in apical half. Ovipositor straight, 1.53X as long as metatibia; ovipositor sheath with long and dense pubescence.
Colour. Head yellow with frons centrally, part of occiput and dorsal part of gena black; mesosoma mainly yellow but mesoscutum black with yellow marks anterolaterally, meeting posteriorly; metanotum and median longitudinal stripe on propodeum black. Metasoma orange-brown, with black basal spot in tergite II. Prothoracic leg yellowish; posterior legs orange-brown, with tibia apically and basally brownish and with yellow central band; metatarsus lacking in holotype. Wings hyaline with apical third of forewing infumate; pterostigma brown.
Etymology. We dedicate this species to our friend and colleague Luis F. De Armas (IES) as a gesture of thanks for his tireless efforts collecting and studying Cuban arthropods.
Material examined. HOLOTYPE: Female, CUBA: El Beral, Guanahacabibes, PR, WC; x-1967; Alayo- García-Broche ( UCLV). Determined as E. nigrovittatum by Alayo in 1972.
