Family Macrothricidae Norman et Brady, 1867 View in CoL
Drepanomacrothrix stschelkanowzewi Werestschagin, 1913
Indian records. Jammu & Kashmir— Brehm (1936).
Remarks. Drepanomacrothryx stschelkanowzewi Werestschagin, 1913 was described from Georgia (Werestschagin 1913) as a single species in Werestschagin's (1913) genus. The genus Drepanomacrothrix Brehm, 1936 was created to replace Drepanomacrothryx Werestschagin, 1913 , which is incorrect in Brehm's (1936) understanding. But both Drepanomacrothryx and Drepanomacrothrix are junior synonyms of Macrothrix Baird, 1843 ( Smirnov 1976, 1992). Also presence-absence of (1) a tooth or "hood" on the dorsal margin and (2) additional spine-like setules on segments of antenna II is regarded now as a variability within a single species ( Hudec 1983; Margaritora & Usai 1983; Kotov 2007). Therefore D. stschelkanowzewi Werestschagin, 1913 is a junior synonym of M. hirsuticornis Norman & Brady, 1867 .
Drepanothrix dentata ( Eurén, 1861)
Indian record: Jammu & Kashmir— Akthar (1972).
Remarks. D. dentata is a valid species described from Sweden ( Eurén 1861). It is distributed only in northern Palaearctic ( Smirnov 1971, 1992).
