Claraeola adventitia ( Kertész, 1912) View in CoL ( Figs 1a–c View FIGURE 1 )
Dorylas adventicius [sic] Kertész: 1912: 292.
Material studied
Taiwan 1♀, Formosa, Kankau (Koshun), VIII.1912, leg. H. Sauter, coll. MNHU ; 1♂, Formosa, Kankan, III [?].1913, leg. H. Sauter, coll. MNHU .
Discussion
Aczél (1940: 151) designated Cla. adventitia as type species for the genus Claraeola . Kertész‘s original description mentions one pair from Koshun (Taiwan), collected during September or October 1908 by Sauter. Both syntypes are deposited at HNHM (Földvári pers. comm.) as indicated in De Meyer (1996). The identity of the specimens studied from MNHU could be established by the detailed description and drawings provided by Kertész (1912) and Aczél (1940) respectively. The structure of the inner genitalia is illustrated here for the first time ( Figs 1a–c View FIGURE 1 ). Useful diagnostic characters are the lateral shape of the inner surstylus with its small ventral projection ( Fig.1b View FIGURE 1 ) and the arrangement of the many small teeth on a large membranous sheet connected to the phallus ( Fig. 1a View FIGURE 1 ).
Cla. adventitia is one of the largest members of Eudorylini , closely related to Cla. colossus (Hardy, 1972) , Cla. gigantea (Hardy, 1972) , Cla. gigas ( Kertész, 1912) , Claraeola robusta ( Kozánek, Suh & Kwon 2003) and Cla. spinosa (Kozánek & Kwon, 1991) . All those species might be addressed as the adventitia species group. Cla. adventitia is currently only known from Taiwan.
