Type Locality: Sudan, Jebel Marra.

Vernacular Names: Lowe's Dipodil.

Distribution: Known only from the type locality.

Conservation: IUCN – Critically Endangered as Gerbillus lowei .

Discussion: Subgenus Petteromys . Synonymized with D. campestris by F. Petter (1975 b) without supporting evidence, but should be kept separate pending revision of the genus ( Lay, 1983). Associated with D. campestris by Pavlinov et al. (1990).
