Remarks. We provisionally accept the validity of D. pruthii as a species, though it is known from its holotype alone, collected in the Salem District of Tamil Nadu in 1929. Collecting by JJ at the type locality of D. pruthii did not yield any specimens of Digitipes , and none of our collections include specimens that possess certain characters of the holotype that appear to be distinctive, i.e. a posterior birfurcation on the anterior median furrow on the cephalic plate, a “broad-based and blunt conical” distomedial process on the ultimate leg femur of males, and a short tergite of the ultimate leg-bearing segment. The distomedial process on the femur of the holotype differs from all definite Digitipes in its substantially lesser projection, and the membership of this species in the genus is not solidly established. It is also geographically anomalous, being the only purported record of Digitipes in the Eastern Ghats.
