Patellapis pearstonensis View in CoL species-group

Males are characterised by a sparse row of 6–12 usually strong, long, curled and erect bristles on posterior margin of metasomal sternum S4 ( Fig. 71d View FIGURE 71 ; Fig. 72e View FIGURE 72 ; Fig. 86d View FIGURE 86 ). Usually, the females of the P. pearstonensis species-group have reddish coloured metasomal terga (at least T2–T4) and / or a coarsely punctated clypeus and a strongly reticulate supraclypeal area. Further, their inner hind tibial spur is often strongly serrate (about 5–6 long, oblique projections) and their scutal surface is completely reticulate. This species-group comprises 19 species namely P. africana , P. andrenoides , P. chubbi , P. cinctifera , P. cockerelli , P. disposita , P. micheneri , P. namaquensis , P. natalensis , P. pastinella , P. pastiniformis , P. pearstonensis , P. platti , P. pondoensis , P. rozeni , P. semipastina , P. turneri , P. virungae and P. vumbensis .
