Dalmannia parvula Rondani, 1857 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1857: 251.
TYPE LOCALITY: Meigen (1824: 150) gave no type locality in the original description of Dalmannia marginata ( Meigen, 1824) , but presumably it is Europe because the work deals with European species.
TYPE MATERIAL: see Remarks.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Dalmannia marginata ( Meigen, 1824) View in CoL ( Chvála & Smith 1988: 271, Rivosecchi & Scaramozzino 1995: 4, Stuke 2017: 140).
REMARKS: Rondani (1857: 251) considered the males of Dalmannia marginata ( Meigen, 1824) and Dalmannia marginella ( Zetterstedt, 1844) and the females of Dalmannia flavipes Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 as belonging to the same species but, instead of applying the Principle of Priority, incorrectly proposed the substitute name Dalmannia parvula . It has always been considered as a synonym of Dalmannia marginata ( Meigen, 1824) ( Schiner 1861a: 390, Schiner 1864: 113, Becker 1905: 272, Kröber 1925: 42, Chvála & Smith 1988: 271, Rivosecchi & Scaramozzino 1995: 4, Stuke 2017: 140), never as a valid species. The type material for Dalmannia parvula will be the same as for the name it was proposed to replace, i. e., Dalmannia marginata . Meigen (1824: 151) reported the types of Dalmannia marginata in M. Baumhauer’s collection. The holotype of Dalmannia marginata is in the MNHN (Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle 2020). Stuke (2017: 140) incorrectly reported the holotype of Dalmannia parvula as in the MZUF. Under the name Dalmannia parvula in the MSNC there is one specimen (non-type).
