Cyrtopholis major ( Franganillo, 1926) View in CoL

( Figs 10–14 View FIGURES 10–14 )

Cyclosternum majus Franganillo, 1926: 44 , comb.: Franganillo, 1931: 171 ( Cyrtopholis debilis bispinosa View in CoL ).

Type-material: Holotype female ( IES 34 ) from Luyan (2310’S 8234’W), Havana, Cuba. Two paratypes, one female ( IES 36 ) and one juvenile ( IES 44 ), same data of holotype.

Diagnosis: females of Cyrtopholis major can be distinguished from those of all other species by the aspect of the spermathecae: it is the only species with seminal receptacles without a subapical constriction ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 10–14 ). Anterior, middle and posterior sternal sigilla elongated and near the margin ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 10–14 ). Labium with numerous cuspules (88) ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 10–14 ), similar to C. unispina (69 cuspules). The specific epithet refers to the size of lateral eyes (ALE and PLE), that are larger ( 0.45 mm) than the others (PME, 0.25 mm and PLE, 0.35 mm) ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 10–14 ). Absence of projection on cephalothorax, such as hump ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 20–24 ), present in C. gibbosa , C. regibbosa and C. bryantae .

Redescription: Holotype female (IES 34). Coloration (in ethanol 70%): carapace light brown ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 10–14 ). Abdomen light brown ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 10–14 ), sternum and legs dark yellow. Total length: 30.0. Carapace ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 10–14 ): length 12.3, width 11.0, fovea straight ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 10–14 ). Clypeus narrow 0.1. Eye tubercle ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 10–14 ): length 1.5, width 3.0. Anterior and posterior eyes row recurved ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 10–14 ). Eyes sizes: AME 0.35, ALE 0.45, PME 0.25, PLE 0.45. Basal segments of chelicerae with 11 teeth each. Labium ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 10–14 ) length 1.3, width 3.0. Sternum elongated ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 10–14 ) length 6.0, width 5.2. Sternal sigillae elongated anterior, median and posterior near margin ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 10–14 ). Labium ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 10–14 ) with 88 cuspules. Maxillae with 94–104 (left–right) cuspules. Spinulation of legs and palp. Tarsi without spines. Palp: femur: v0, p0–0–0–1, r0; patella: v0, p0, r0; tibia: v0, p0–0–1, r0. Leg I: femur: v0, p0, r0; patella: v0, p0, r0; tibia v0, p0, r0; metatarsus v0–0–1, p0, r0. Leg II: femur: v0, p0, r0; patella: v0, p0, r0; tibia v0, p0, r0; metatarsus v0, p0, r0. Leg III: femur: v0, p0, r0; patella: v0, p0, r0; tibia v0–2–2, p1–1–1, r0–1–1; metatarsus v0–1–1–1, p0–1–1–0 r0–1–0–0. Leg IV: femur: v0, p0, r0; patella: v0, p0, r0; tibia: v0–2–2–2–0, p0–0–0–1–0, r0–0–0–1–1; metatarsus v2–2–2–2–1–3, p0–1–0–0–0–1, r1–1–1–1–1–1. Tarsal scopula: undivided on all tarsi and extended to metatarsi. Scopula on metatarsi: I and II 3/4, III and IV absent. Spermatheca ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 10–14 ) composed of two receptacles without subapical constriction, and without any lateral branches. Abdomen ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 10–14 ): urticating setae type I and type III.

Males: unknown. Additional examined material: One female (IES 3.4205) from El Zapote de Mandinga, Baracoa, Cuba,
