Female macroptera
White at eclosion but darkening when mature; body and head brown ( Figure 3A View Figure 3 ); fore and mid femora brown at base with distal half yellow, hind femora dark brown with distal third yellow, all tarsi and tibiae yellow; antennal segment I light brown, II and III yellow, IV yellow at base and distal half light brown, V light brown at base and distal half dark brown, VI–VIII dark brown. Forewings pale.
Measurements of holotype female in mm. Body length 1340. Head, length 170; median width, across eyes 110, across cheeks 90. Pronotum, length 170; maximum width 200. Metanotal median setae length 10. Forewing length 590. Tergite VI median setae 8. Antennal segments I–VIII, 21, 34, 44, 37, 35, 38, 12, 15, respectively.
Male macroptera
Similar to female but smaller. Body and legs yellow, tergite X and genitalia brown, conical tubercule on tergite IX dark brown; antennae similar to female except antennal segment I yellow. Hind coxa without spur; sternite III with slender transverse pore plate, IV (rarely V) with incomplete transverse pore plate sometimes
reduced to two or more circles; tergite IX produced dorsally into stout conical tubercle bearing pair of stout setae that are fused distally ( Figure 3C,D View Figure 3 ).

Larva II
Colour white with faint brown shading on legs, antennae and anterior margin of head; each abdominal tergite with 12–15 transverse rows of small rounded tubercles; tergite IX with only one transverse row and a few scattered tubercles, posterior margin with no teeth, median pair of campaniform sensilla no further apart than posteromedian pair of setae; tergal setae with blunt apices.
Material examined
Holotype ♀, Australia, Queensland, Brisbane, The Gap , in leaf gall on Austrosteenisia blackii , 24 November 2007 (DJT569) (in Australian National Insect Collection, CSIRO, Canberra) . Paratypes: 14 ♀ collected with holotype ; 12 ♀ 12 „ from same site, 23 January 2008 (DJT584) (in Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries, Queensland; Natural History Museum , London ; Senckenberg Museum , Frankfurt ) .
