TYPE LOCALITY: “ Italia [ Italy]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 2 ♂♂, 1 ♀, syntypes ( MZUF: Box 57): Culex Lin. / articulatus Rndn. / 3017; 1 ♀, syntype ( MZUF: Box 57): Culex Lin. / articulatus Rndn. / 3017 / Mag. [May]; 1 ♂, syntype ( MZUF: Box 57): Culex Lin. / articulatus Rndn. / 3017 / Ott. [October]; 1 ♂, syntype ( MZUF: Box 57): Culex Lin. / articulatus Rndn. / 3017 / 19/8.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Aedes vexans (Meigen, 1830) View in CoL ( Minář 1991: 91, Harbach 2018: 16).

REMARKS: Rondani (1872a: 30) included Culex articulatus as a new species in a key but did not provide a detailed description, number or length of the specimens but provided specific characters for the male. Six syntypes were found in this study.
