Material examined. Holotype male, labelled ‘ Holotype Cryptotendipes aculeatus Pal & Hazra, 2018 , India, West Bengal, Malda [24°90′N, 88°11′E], 01.iii.2016, Coll. G. Pal’ .

Diagnostic characters. Cryptotendipes aculeatus is characterised by V shaped anal tergite band, gonostylus steadily narrowed distally with well developed basal expansion at its inner margin, distinct curvature at inner margin of gonostylus and digitiform superior volsella with two apical setae.

Remarks. Pal & Hazra (2018) described the species based on a single type specimen. However, careful examination of the holotype reveals the following corrections and additional information: eyes with 150 µm long parallel-sided dorsomedial extension; acrostichals 4, others not countable; anal tergite band V shaped; superior volsella digitiform with 2 apical setae; gonostylus abruptly narrowed distally bearing well developed basal expansion at its inner margin; distinct curvature at inner margin of gonostylus; HR 1.08; HV 1.83. Further, illustration of the hypopygium, especially superior volsella of the species being not made by the authors properly, it is redrawn ( Figs. 2 A–B).
