Cordylura nigriseta Rondani, 1866 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1866b: 12 (key), 14 (description) [1867b: 96 (key), 98 (description)].
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in planitie parmensi … in Pedemontio [ Parmese plains … Piedmont ( Italy)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 2 ♂♂, syntypes (one missing right mid-leg, the other missing left mid-leg) ( MZUF: Box 26): Cordylura Mgn / nigriseta Rndn. , ♂, Alpi / 1415 .
CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Cordilura nigriseta ( Gorodkov 1986: 16, Gorodkov et al. 1995: 4).
REMARKS: Rondani (1866b: 14) described Cordylura nigriseta from more than one male: “ Mares tantum raro legi …, et unum misit Clar. Spinola in Pedemontio captum [I collected only males rarely …, and Mr. Spinola sent me one specimen collected in Piedmont]”, publishing the species first in a separate (1866b) and then in the journal version (1867b). We found two male syntypes in this study. A MZUF female numbered “1415 is not included in the type series because of its sex. Rondani listed this nominal species under the generic name “ Cordylura ”, which is an incorrect subsequent spelling of Cordilura Fallén, 1810 or subsequent usage of Cordylura Meigen, 1826 .
