Coluber rectangulus Gray, 1834

Coluber rectangulus Gray, 1834 [in 1832–1835]: pl. 82, figs. 4–6.—Type locality. Not given.—Onomatophore. Holotype: specimen illustrated by Gray (pl. 82, figs. 4–6), not traced and considered to be lost.

Status. A taxon here regarded as a subjective synonym of Xenochrophis piscator . Synonymized with Tropidonotus quincunciatus by Günther (1858: 64).

Comments. Gray’s plate (fig. 5) makes clear that the illustrated specimen is conspecific with Coluber mortuarius Daudin, 1803 , and thus a subjective junior synonym of this latter taxon.
