Type material. Lectotype designated herein: UMJG & P 203.168 , SL: 48.6 mm, MD: 18.6 mm, Universalmuseum Joanneum (Graz, Austria), illustrated in Hoernes (1901: 319, figs 1–2).
Type locality. Oisnitz ( Austria)
Stratigraphy. Middle Miocene, Badenian.
Discussion. Potamides (Terebralia) dollfusi Martin, 1917 from the Miocene of Indonesia, currently placed in Cerithiidae by Leloux & Wesselingh 2009, is a secondary homonym and will need a new name.
Central Paratethys. Badenian (Middle Miocene): Styrian Basin: Oisnitz, St Josef at Stainz ( Austria).
