The karyotype of C. guntheri guntheri is composed of 2n = 48 acrocentric chromosomes of slowly decreasing size, except the first pair, which is much larger. The most remark- able characteristic of C. guntheri guntheri karyotype is the exclusive presence of st/t chromosome pairs, (FN = 48). The 18S rRNA genes are located on the terminal region of short arms of one acrocentric pair, the second one of the size series ( Fig. 2 View Figure 2 ).
